While integrating research into teaching is increasingly an aim in higher education, there are often many different perspectives and ways to achieve this. The Higher Education, Research and Innovation Department (HERI) has developed instruments and workshops to discuss research integration. These can help at when discussing individual modules, whole curricula, or even organisational change. The tools are themed in: 1. Strategy and oversight, 2. Qualities of research, 3. Professionalism and Research.
1. Strategy and Oversight
These instruments and workshops can help to provide a strategic overview of educational change. This can help your team decide what the focus of the change should be, or how to measure the results of the change.

2. Qualities of Research
Research means different things to different people, contexts and disciplines. These instruments and workshops help you discuss these perspectives, defining what ‘quality’ means for you, and what kind of research is appropriate for your context.
